If there’s one thing most of the residents in Greenville can agree on it is, we have our more than our fair share of taco restaurants and pizza places. So, when I heard a restaurant was opening and serving both tacos and pizza I did a slight eye-roll, but I have to say I was also very intrigued- a place with pizza and tacos? Something for everyone that can either be a success or fail.
Spoiler alert: not a fail.
Tacozinni is located on Augusta Rd and, as I previously stated, has a menu focused on tacos and pizza. The menu also has a variety of salads and some pretty delicious appetizers, if I do say so myself.
I have been to Tacozzini on three different occasions and have enjoyed each experience. The staff was friendly and helpful.
For appetizers, I have had the pan seared mozzarella and the sloppy joe sliders. The mozzarella was delicious and one of my favorite dishes because who doesn’t love fried cheese? It had been years since I had a sloppy joe, but they definitely didn’t disappoint.
For entrees, I have had the Taco Americana, two delicious tacos with shaved steak, Monterrey Jack cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, avocado and a chipotle chili aioli. I have also had the Greek Street pizza, a lovely pizza with an olive oil base with shaved lamb, mozzarella, feta, pickled red onions, cucumber tomato Pico de Gallo and a citrus crema.
There’s also a ‘not so secret menu’, which is on a chalkboard on the restaurant’s wall. I found out about this during my most recent visit. Of course I had to check it out because duck bahn mi sliders and winter root vegetable pizza. Both were delicious! I had the pizza made with the cauliflower crust so I could take some back home to S.
Dining with friends during these visits had its perks. I was able to taste the ting yang shrimp taco and backyard bbq pizza. Definitely recommend both.
Tacozzini is open for lunch and dinner and has something for everyone. But you don’t have to take my word for it. Check it out for yourself!
