Mix It Up Monday: Carolina Fall

It is finally cooling off from a hot summer, which means fall has arrived! It is a time for “basics” to swap their tank tops and white wines for hoodies and everything pumpkin spice. (and no this isn’t a pumpkin spice cocktail…ewww) Today’s Mix It Up Monday post is for what I have named the Carolina Fall. I associate fall with football, apple picking and the fair, so while I’m not quite sure how to incorporate football into a cocktail, I have used a little bit of the other two.

The Carolina Fall uses three ingredients that are made local to me, Six and Twenty Old Money and Holmes Sweet Home Sweet Cream Caramel Sauce, which are both made in Upstate South Carolina, and Sky Top Orchard’s apple cider, just across the South Carolina-North Carolina boarder.

2 oz Six and Twenty Old Money (whiskey)

1.5 oz Sky Top Orchard Apple Cider

1/4 oz lemon juice

Holmes Sweet Home’s Sweet Cream Caramel Sauce

In a cocktail shaker with ice, combine whiskey, apple cider, and lemon juice. Shake well. Drizzle caramel sauce around the inside of the glass as well as on the rim. Pour cocktail into the glass. Enjoy!
