For those of you that like to play around in your kitchen and bar, I have asked my partner, SH, to help me with a weekly post featuring a cocktail recipe. So, from our home bar to yours, it’s Mix It Up Monday!
Our first Mix It Up Monday post is a drink called Strawberry Rhubarb Pie.
Inspiration: SH purchased some rhubarb syrup a few months ago with the intent of using it to make cocktails, but had no idea as to what to mix with it. After a long night at work, he came home one morning and thought about his childhood and his mother baking rhubarb pies. So, somehow between a love for bourbon and reminiscing of his childhood, he came up with Strawberry Rhubarb Pie in its liquid form.
1 1/2 ounces of high quality bourbon
1 ounce of strawberry liqueur
1/2 ounce of rhubarb syrup
1 dash of aromatic bitters
Shake and stain over ice in a low ball glass. Fill with berry flavored-unsweetened sparkling water. Stir and garnish with a fresh strawberry.
