At some point over the last few years, tacos became one of the trendiest foods and due to this trend over the last few years, Greenville’s ever growing restaurant community has seen an influx of Mexican, Mexican-inspired and taco-based restaurants along with these trendy food items popping up on a lot of menus around town. One of the latest restaurants to join this category is Tipsy Taco.
Tipsy Taco is located on Pelham Road in the Publix shopping center. This locally owned restaurant specializes in street-style tacos and serves other Tex-Mex favorites such as nachos and quesadillas. They even have shrimp and grits on the Sunday Brunch menu! Although, shrimp and grits is not a traditional Tex-Mex menu item, Tipsy Taco has put its own spin on the southern brunch staple. With over 60 tequilas, 5 Mexican beers on tap along with an extensive selection of bottled and canned beers and one heck of a cocktail list the bar will not disappoint you.
SH and I attended brunch with some church friends on Sunday. Unfortunately, no one ordered anything off of the brunch menu, but it did look pretty good.
The Tipsy Taco specialty cocktail menu is quite impressive. It features margaritas, of course, along with cocktails which feature their house infused spirits, such as the Mexican s’mores martini with their house-infused espresso tequila and the Tipsy Peach Punch with their house-infused peach rum. SH had the Cucumber Chile Cooler, which is their house-infused cucumber-chile tequila, St. Germaine, and seltzer- great drink with good flavor! I was in the mood for a mule for some reason and ordered the Strawberry Patch. The Strawberry Patch is one of 3 mules on the menu. It consists of Goslings Bermuda Black Seal Rum, muddled strawberries, cilantro and agave nectar- so refreshing!
The menu has quite the selection of tacos and you get your choice of flour, white corn or hard shells. I had the Drunken Piggy and the Baja Shrimp with a side of street corn. The Drunken Piggy contains beer braised pork, pineapple habenero sauce, ranch beans and cucumber radish pico de gallo- talk about flavor! The Baja Shrimp was also delicious with bacon, chipotle barbecue, and arugala. Everyone was very pleased with their tacos!
